VITARGO CARBOLOADER 750G
- Fast absorbing carbohydrates.
- Can be used before and after training
- Also suitable for carbohydrate loading.
- Faster glycogen replenishment
- The risk of stomach problems is minimal
Vitargo® is a patented carbohydrate with unique properties, specially formulated for top athletes to easily load glycogen.
Vitargo® is a significantly larger carbohydrate than conventional carbohydrates in sports drinks; its molecular structure is similar to glycogen. The larger the carbohydrate, the faster the drink moves through the stomach. The intestines can then absorb the energy into your bloodstream. This is called osmolality: the lower the osmolality, the faster the drink moves through the stomach. Vitargo® was clinically tested at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and compared with other "conventional" carbohydrate-rich sports drinks. The results showed that Vitargo® replenishes glycogen faster and moves through the stomach faster than conventional combinations of complex glucose polymers.
Is Vitargo the same as “Waxy Maize” or high molecular weight starch?
The practical difference between the two is their effect on insulin. Both have a relatively fast gastric emptying time. Both enter the bloodstream relatively quickly. However, this is where they differ:
Waxy maize slowly seeps into the bloodstream over time with a minimal effect on insulin, while Vitargo significantly raises both blood glucose and insulin. The net result is that Vitargo has a profound effect on short-term muscle glycogen replenishment, while waxy maize does not.
Can't I just eat pasta, bread, or other high-carb foods and get the same results?
The honest answer is that you can certainly eat these foods, but if you want to fuel up before training, you need to eat them many hours beforehand to ensure the carbohydrates are digested and in your bloodstream, liver, and muscle cells to fuel your workout. If you eat them right before training, your muscles won't have received any fuel, and you'll likely feel too full to train properly. These foods will undoubtedly help replenish glycogen stores in your muscles and liver. The question, however, should be: do they replenish and restore glycogen stores as quickly as Vitargo, without the bloating and "heavy stomach" feeling? If you're training or competing in multiple competitions on the same day or the next, you should choose a carbohydrate source proven to accelerate refueling and recovery after a grueling workout.
